Last month, Motorola introduced its new Turbo Charger, which utilizes Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology to quickly give juice to Snapdragon-powered products. Now HTC has revealed that it’s got a speedy charger of its own.
The HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 is a 15W USB-based wall charger that can charge up compatible phones much quicker than a standard charger. When it announced Quick Charge 2.0 earlier this year, Qualcomm said that the tech will charge compatible devices up to 75 percent faster than non-Quick Charge chargers.
The HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 is compatible with any microUSB-based phone, but only select phones will benefit from its rapid charging capability. Those devices include the HTC One (M8), HTC One (E8), HTC One remix and HTC Desire Eye.
There’s no word yet on how much the HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 will cost or when it’ll go on sale. Motorola’s Turbo Charger is priced at $34.99, though, and so I’d expect HTC’s Rapid Charger 2.0 to carry a similar price tag.
Have you used Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology yet?
