When the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus launched last month, Sprint introduced its new “iPhone for Life” program that allows customers to lease Apple’s new hardware for a monthly fee and then return it for a new model every one or two years. Now Sprint is expanding that program to include non-Apple smartphones.
Sprint Lease allows customers to lease a 16GB Samsung Galaxy S5 or Galaxy S5 Sport at a price of $20 per month for 24 months. Once those 24 months are up, consumers can turn in their GS5 and lease another phone, purchase the leased GS5, continue leasing the GS5 on a month-to-month basis or return the phone and end their service.
Sprint says that existing customers that least a GS5 or GS5 Sport from October 31 through January 15, 2015 can receive a $15 per month loyalty service credit.
Sprint Lease looks like a a worthwhile option for folks that are interested in a GS5 or GS5 Sport but want something more affordable than Sprint’s Easy Pay or two-year contract pricing. While Sprint Lease is $20 per month for 24 months, Sprint Easy Pay pricing for the GS5 and GS5 Sport is $27.09 for 23 months and one payment of $26.92.
Sprint Lease may not be for everyone, but for those folks that do like the option, hopefully Sprint continues to add more devices to the program.
