Apple's iPad Air is taking on a new form factor for its fifth generation. Now resembling the iPad mini, the iPad Air is much thinner and lighter than the previous generation iPad. Power is also being improved with the new A7 chip - the same chip that is found on the iPhone 5s. It delivers a 64-bit architecture for future applications, and makes the iPad Air an exceptionally fluid tablet. Apple claims up to 50% better performance and through benchmarks they are just about right. iOS 7 feels noticeably quicker running on iPad Air than the fourth generation iPad.
Great specifications aside, the iPad Air is pricey. The price remains at the $499 mark but other tablets with similar or better performance figures can be had for around $300. Is this iPad Air enough to compete with its competitors - or even the iPad mini with Retina Display?
