Whenever Google launches a major new version of Android, it adds a large statue of the corresponding dessert to its yard. For example, a gingerbread man arrive for Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a pile of jelly beans appeared for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a KitKat Android was erected for Android 4.4 KitKat. Today Google officially announced Android 5.0 Lollipop, and so it should come as no surprise that there’s a new statue on Google’s lawn.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop statue is fairly basic compared to some of Google’s previous statues, depicting an Android giving the peace sign with one hand and holding a giant lollipop with the other.
Some folks may have expected an Android-shaped lollipop statue to show up today, but the one that actually went up still looks nice. It’s a nice change of pace from the Android-ified statues that we’ve seen in the past and matches up with Google’s official Lollipop imagery.
What do you think of the Lollipop statue?
UPDATE: Google has posted a video showing the official Android 5.0 Lollipop statue unveiling, which you can view below.
