Following its debut on AT&T earlier this year, it appears as though the HTC Desire 610 will soon be making its way onto another major US carrier.
The HTC Desire 612 recently popped up on Verizon’s equipment guide support site, complete with a user manual. The device looks reminiscent of the Desire 610, complete with rounded edges and a rear camera and flash that are centered at the top of its backside, but the Desire 612’s front-facing speakers are a tad different than the 610’s.
The folks at TK Tech News have gotten hold of what looks to be an official press image of the HTC Desire 612. The device appears to line up with what’s on Verizon’s equipment guide page. The 612’s specs have also purportedly been leaked and are said to include a 4.7-inch 960x540 display, 8-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, 8GB of storage, microSD slot and a 2040mAh battery.
It’s suggested that the Desire 612 could land at Verizon on October 9 for $19.99 on a two-year contract. October 9 is a Thursday, which is the day of the week that Verizon typically launches new phones, and that $20 on-contract price sounds plausible for a device that’s specced like the 612. Even though it may not be the most high-end phone we’ve ever seen, the Desire 612 could be a nice option for folks looking for a budget smartphone on Verizon thanks to its front-facing speakers and HTC build quality.
