The past couple of years have seen Samsung launch “mini” versions of its flagship Galaxy S smartphones, and it’s looking like this year will be no different.
A new photo shared by @evleaks claims to show a web page for the “Galaxy S5 Dx,” which may be the name of the mini Galaxy S5. The page shows a device that looks fairly similar to the Galaxy S5 but in a coupe of new colors, including a lime green and what looks to be a light purple. The URL for the page indicates that the Galaxy S5 Dx’s model number may be “SM-G800,” which lines up with a previous rumor.
According to that same rumor, the Galaxy S5 mini/Galaxy S5 Dx may sport a 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon processor, 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 1.5GB of RAM and a 2100mAh battery. If those specs hold true, it looks like this shrunken version of the Galaxy S5 will follow in the footsteps of previous mini smartphones by offering a form factor similar to its flagship sibling, but pairing it with mid-range specs.
What do you think of this rumored Galaxy S5 Dx? Would you be interested in the device if these leaks hold true?
UPDATE: A purported render of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Dx has been shared by @evleaks. The image appears to line up with the one from Samsung’s website, showing a white Samsung-branded handset with a curved top and rounded edges.
