Week 112 of PhoneDog Media’s Official Smartphone Rankings (OSR) has come and gone and the HTC One (M8) remained the favorite of both the experts and fans for a fifth consecutive week. Can HTC’s flagship for 2014 and its premium metal design, Sense software and BoomSound speakers stay atop the heap?
MT PLEASANT, SC – April 30, 2014 – PhoneDog Media's Official Smartphone Rankings™ (OSR) is the gold standard for ranking the best smartphones on the market by placing votes from readers and experts in their respective charts. The crowd-pleasing HTC One (M8) took in 157 votes, while the Galaxy Note 3, Samsung’s standout of 2013, took in 45 votes. Maintaining third place for a second week was the Samsung Galaxy S5 and its 34 votes, followed by the HTC One (M7) with 30 votes and the Apple iPhone 5s with 26 votes.
Our group of mobile tech experts continued to name the HTC One (M8) the top smartphone, giving it a total of 42 points for the week. Falling 10 points short of the top spot was Samsung’s Galaxy S5, which finished the week with 32 points. Rounding out the experts’ top 5 was the Apple iPhone 5s with 29 points, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 with 25 points and the LG Nexus 5 with 16 points.
“With three major manufacturers expected to unveil new smartphones next month, we anticipate a lot of extra activity on the Official Smartphone Rankings through the remainder of 2014,” said Rebecca Atwood, Vice President of PhoneDog Media.
