Does your iPhone 5 have a faulty sleep/wake button? If so, then your weekend is about to get quite a bit better!
Apple announced today that it’s introducing a new program for iPhone 5 owners that have a sleep/wake button that either works intermittently or has stopped functioning altogether. Apple told The Loop that it will replace the sleep/wake button of affected models for free.
Apple has set up a special web page for this new program at which consumers can enter their device’s serial number to see if it qualifies for a free replacement sleep/wake button. The repair itself is done at an Apple Repair Center, and consumers can either mail their unit in or physically take it to a store. Apple estimates that the replacement process will take 4-6 days to complete, and it says that repair centers will have loaner iPhone 5 units available for consumers that need one.
