Just days after revealing that its upcoming smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor, OnePlus today revealed another spec detail of its CyanogenMod-powered One handset.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau took to his company's official forums today to share the news that the One will be powered by a non-removable 3100mAh battery. Lau explains that OnePlus wanted its device to last a full day without forcing users to manage the One's brightness or data connectivity. The exec goes on to say that a non-removable battery was selected because if OnePlus had opted for a removable juice pack, the One would've ended up with a smaller 2500mAh battery or a thicker overall body to account for additional circuitry and a protective layer on the phone's motherboard.
Lau goes on to say that because OnePlus has been working on the One with the CyanogenMod team during the entirety of the device's development, its battery will be optimized to be as efficient as possible. Finally, Lau teases that it's developed a "Mystery Tech" to enhance the user experience of the OnePlus One.
OnePlus has been working to build hype for its One smartphone by trickling out its spec details in recent weeks. Right now we know that the OnePlus One will run CyanogenMod and will feature a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, LTE connectivity, a notification LED, 16GB and 64GB storage options and a 3100mAh battery. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has also confirmed that the One will feature an off-contract price tag that's below $400.
The One is shaping up to be a respectable Android smartphone, but there are still a few important tidbits of info that we're missing, like its screen size and resolution. OnePlus has steadily been shedding more and more light on its device in recent weeks, though, so it shouldn't be too much longer before all is finally revealed.
