Sprint has steadily been expanding its Spark LTE service in recent months, lighting up markets like Kansas City and Baltimore with that tri-band 4G goodness. That continues today as two more lucky cities are joining Club Spark.
Sprint says that its Spark LTE and HD Voice services are now live in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jacksonville, Fla. This latest expansion brings Sprint's Spark footprint up to 16 cities: Austin, Texas; Baltimore, Md.; Chicago, Ill.; Dallas, Texas; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Fort Worth, Texas; Houston, Texas; Jacksonville, Fla.; Kansas City, Kan.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Miami, Fla.; New York, N.Y.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Salt Lake City, Utah.; San Antonio, Texas; and Tampa, Fla.
Sprint also revealed today that its regular 4G LTE network is now live in 382 markets across the U.S. Some of the newest markets to gain access to Sprint LTE include Detroit, Mich.; Rochester, N.Y.; Manchester, N.H.; and Winston-Salem, N.C.
While Sprint is still playing LTE catch-up with some of the other major U.S. carriers, Dan Hesse and Co. seem to have gotten more aggressive with their LTE rollout recently, which is good news for both Sprint and its customers. Sprint has said that it plans to continue its network enhancement efforts as we dive deeper into 2014, with plans to cover 250 million people with LTE service and also finish its 3G network modernization efforts by mid-year.
