In recent weeks we've seen both the T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular versions of the Moto X receive their Android 4.4.2 updates, and now it looks like Verizon's model may be next.
According to a report from Droid-Life, Motorola has started to send emails to Verizon Moto X owners that contain an invitation to an "early preview of a new software release." These soak tests allow Motorola to put a new update through its final paces before pushing it out to the general public.
Motorola doesn't elaborate on what kinds of goodies are packed into this Verizon Moto X update, but since the T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular Moto X variants were recently bumped up to Android 4.4.2, it seems pretty likely that this Verizon-specific update is 4.4.2 as well. When it was rolled out to other models, the Android 4.4.2 update brought with it support for printing photos, better battery life and a fix for a bug that was causing email sync delays.
The start of the public rollout for this Verizon Moto X update is tough to pin down right now since it depends on whether or not it needs to go back to Motorola for more tweaking. The good news is that this soak test indicates that the update is making progress through Motorola's labs, though.
