Good news, owners of U.S. carrier-branded HTC One models! HTC just announced that the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon variants of the One have been handed off to the operators and are all expected to receive certification next week. HTC's official software update page confirms the news, listing all four models as being in the "Certification" phase of the update process. This is the final stage of the process before the update is pushed to consumers.
HTC originally laid out its KitKat update plans at the end of October, saying that the Google Play edition, Developer and unlocked models would be bumped to Android 4.4 within the following 30 days. The company later estimated that the carrier-branded models would be updated by the end of January. It's good to see HTC sticking to its schedule and, so long as there aren't any Verizon One-esque last-minute delays, the U.S. operator-specific versions of the One should be enjoying a KitKat treat soon. Get excited!
