HTC has been very transparent lately about the update process for its flagship One smartphone, keeping its users abreast of expected release dates and any delays that may come up. The company continued that openness today by taking to Twitter and sharing some details on the status of the Android 4.4 KitKat updates for several different versions of the HTC One.
Over on its official @HTCUSA Twitter page, HTC has announced that it has handed the KitKat code for the Google Play Edition HTC One over to Google. Unfortunately for owners of the GPe One, HTC doesn't have a release timeframe to share, saying that the push will be determined by Google. The firm went on to say that it's still on track to update both the Developer Edition and unlocked HTC One models by the end of November.
Back in August, we saw both the Google Play edition HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4 models receive updates to Android 4.3 around a week and a half after Google's Nexus devices. Now it looks like the GPe HTC One could end up getting its taste of Android 4.4 in a timely manner as well. Here's to hoping that Google hurries with the update and that Samsung is being just as speedy with the KitKat update for its GPe Galaxy S 4. Stay tuned and I'll update you with more details of these Android 4.4 rollouts as I get 'em!
