Google made its monthly Glass update official nearly a week ago, but it looks like that's not the only big Glass-related news that Google's got to share this month. The company today launched a sign-up page where anyone interested in joining the Glass Explorer Program can leave their information and be alerted if a spot opens up. The required info is pretty basic, with Google asking for interested parties to share their name, email and the reason that they're interested in giving Glass a try. Google does note, though, that it won't be able to invite every person that signs up.
The big G also made an announcement today that existing Glass Explorers will want to be aware of. Google has revealed that it plans to roll a new voice command out in the coming weeks that will enable Explorers to listen to their Google Play Music collection on Glass. To begin playing music with their headgear, Explorers will only need to utter the phrase "Okay Glass, listen to..."
Google also plans to offer a new pair of stereo earbuds for Glass to enhance Explorers' music-listening experience. The earbuds will feature five interchangeable colors caps, and according to The New York Times, they'll be made available later in November for $85 per pair.
Overall it looks like Google is continuing to work hard on expanding its Glass testing to get the eyewear ready for a public launch. New features are being added to the Glass software on a regular basis, and the ability to listen to music using Glass is a major enhancement that I'm sure many Explorers will appreciate getting now and consumers will enjoy having once Glass is made available to all.
Meanwhile, it's good to see Google accepting sign-ups for invitations to the Explorer program, as that gives more folks the chance to get some Glass if they're unable to get an invitation from an existing Explorer. If you'd like to express interest in becoming an Explorer, you can do so by hitting up the Glass Explorer Program link below.
