In recent weeks, we've watched several U.S. variants of the HTC One receive an update to Android 4.3 with Sense 5.0 improvements mixed in as well. Now it looks like some international flavors of the One are starting to get their own bump up to Android 4.3. Rather than sticking to Sense 5.0, though, these global One variants are one-upping their American counterparts by getting updated to Sense 5.5.
Reports from Android Central and HTC ROM crafter @LlabTooFeR indicate that the HTC One is now receiving a combination Android 4.3 and Sense 5.5 update in Russia as well as some Eastern European and Nordic countries. The update is a beefy one, weighing in at 675.48MB, and bumps the HTC One up to software version 3.62.401.1.
This update brings with it a handful of tweaks to various parts of HTC's Sense overlay. BlinkFeed is made more customizable with the ability to add global news sources and custom feeds from places like RSS, Twitter and YouTube, and users also gain the ability to save articles to read later. BlinkFeed can now be disabled by the user as well. There are also some improvements to the Quick Settings menu, including a Do Not Disturb mode and the ability to reorder settings, and some improvements to the Gallery and Music apps.
In all this looks like a nice little update for international HTC One owners. Not only are they getting updated to the freshest version of Android, or at least the freshest one that's actually available to the public, but the latest goodies from the recently-introduced Sense 5.5 are in there as well. As is usually the case with these updates, it'll likely take a few weeks for this update to roll its way across Europe. That may not be the news that owners of non-updated international Ones want to hear, but hey, at least we know that the update is now making its way out to users, right?
