Sony hasn't yet said when or if the Xperia Z Ultra will make its way onto a carrier here in the U.S., but anyone that just can't wait around to see if a subsidized is released can now pre-order an unlocked model.
Online retailer Newegg is now accepting pre-orders for two versions of the unlocked Xperia Z Ultra. One model (C6802) features HSPA connectivity and a $699.99 price tag, while the second variant (C6806) packs both HSPA and 4G LTE support along with a price of $729.99. Both variants are available in black, purple and white, and all of the models are slated to be released on Oct. 14.
The Xperia Z Ultra is one of Sony's flagship smartphones, sporting a high-end spec list that includes a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, microSD slot with support for cards up to 64GB and a 3000mAh battery. However, the feature that the Xperia Z Ultra is most known for is its display, which is 6.44 inches in size with a resolution of 1920x1080. That makes the Xperia Z Ultra one of the largest smartphones on the market, and while that supersized screen won't appeal to everyone, it's good to see that any U.S.-based consumers that do want it in their lives can pre-order a unit of their own.
Both the HSPA and LTE variants of the Xperia Z Ultra can be pre-ordered at the Newegg link below. If you're on the fence about whether or not the Xperia Z Ultra is a good fit for you and your pockets, you can check out Aaron's two-part video review here and here.
