Google announced at its new Nexus 7 event that owners of select other Nexus devices would begin receiving updates to Android 4.3 that day, and since then the new software has steadily been rolling out to users. Now it looks like buyers of the 2013 edition Nexus 7 are being included in the update fun as well.
A report from Android Central has revealed that Google is delivering a pair of updates to the new Nexus 7, and several N7 owners say that they have indeed received the new software. The first update hits the device as soon as it connects to Wi-Fi, even if that's during the initial setup, booting the N7 into recovery mode and then bringing it up to software build number JWR66N. Then a notification arrives, alerting the user that another update is waiting to be installed. Once it is, the Nexus 7 ends up on software build number JSS15J.
The contents of these updates are a mystery for now, but it's thought that they're simple bug-fixers. Whatever they are, it's good to see that Google is already rolling out new software to improve its shiny new tablet, and I'm sure that there are some Nexus 7 owners that are excited to be receiving new software to play with so soon after the device's launch. If you've already managed to snag a new Nexus 7 of your very own, be sure to give us a shout once these updates make their way to you!
