Looks like Motorola Electrify 2 owners on U.S. Cellular are about to have a better weekend than expected. Motorola just announced on its official Inside Motorola blog that the Electrify 2's Jelly Bean update has started rolling out in phases, bumping the device up from Android 4.0 to Android 4.1. U.S. Cellular's official update page shows that this update is build number 9.8.3O-118-14, and once the new software hits and the dust settles, the Electrify 2 will be running Android 4.1.2. The only changes named by Motorola and U.S. Cellular are Jelly Bean features such as Google Now, Voice Search and expandable notifications.
The Electrify 2 originally landed on U.S. Cellular's shelves in August 2012 with Android 4.0, so it's been running Ice Cream Sandwich for a while now. However, Motorola confirmed a couple of months after the Electrify 2's launch that the device would be updated to Jelly Bean, so owners of the device have spent the last few months patiently waiting for their serving of Jelly Bean to come. Now that wait is finally over. Moto does note that the update is rolling out in phases, so not every Electrify 2 user will be bumped up immediately, but at least we know that the new software is on its way out. If you've got an Electrify 2 laying around, be sure to let us know once it gets updated to Jelly Bean!
