RIM's first BlackBerry 10 handset has been the star of a number of different leaks, both in photo and video forms, and it looks like we can add one more to the pile before heading into 2013. A new report from @evleaks on Unwired View contains an image showing the L-Series unit that we're fairly familiar with at this point, both in black and a new white look. Along with the phone itself, the image contains the words "The New BlackBerry Z10," which is reportedly the name that the L-Series device will sport when it finally comes to market. The image itself is said to have come from some RIM marketing materials.

Obviously the name "BlackBerry Z10" is a bit different than the names were used to seeing for BlackBerry devices, such as Bold 9900 and Torch 9850. Today's report claims that that's because RIM is planning to switch things up with BlackBerry 10 and move to a shorter naming system. RIM CEO Thorsten Heins has said that a QWERTY-equipped BlackBerry 10 device is also on the way, and @evleaks suggests that it could come to market as the "BlackBerry X10."

While it's still not official, a new device naming scheme would be interesting considering how long RIM has been using its four-digit system. BlackBerry 10 is a big change for the company, though, so RIM may feel that a new method of identifying its products is also in order. Speaking of its products, the L-Series device shown today looks fairly similar to the unit that we've been seeing for almost a year now. There haven't been many reports about a white version of the L-Series/Z10, but RIM does have a history of releasing white variants of its high-end smartphones, and I'm sure that there are some folks out there that are glad to see the trend continuing.
