The Apple iPad mini is one of the more oft-leaked pieces of hardware in recent memory, with reports concerning the device's screen size and announcement date growing louder and more frequent in recent months. One aspect of the smaller iPad that we haven't heard much about, though, is what storage capacities we can expect it to come in. That may have changed today, as a purported inventory screen from German retailer Media Markt with listings for several iPad mini variants has been leaked to Flo's Weblog. The image shows entries for iPad mini models in 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities. In addition, there are separate listings for Wi-Fi and cellular-enabled models as well as black and white versions of the device.
Also included in the inventory screen are purported prices in Euros for the different variants of the iPad mini. The Wi-Fi model starts at 249 Euros ($322) for 8GB of storage and then goes up to 349 Euros for 16GB, 449 Euros for 32GB and 549 Euros for 64GB. Adding cellular connectivity brings the price of each variant up 100 Euros, meaning that the 8GB version is priced at 349 Euros, 16GB is 449 Euros, 32GB is 549 Euros and the 64GB model is 649 Euros, coming in as the priciest of the bunch.
Obviously won't know exactly how Apple plans to price the iPad mini until the company, you know, announces the thing. However, we've previously heard that the device's pricing could start at around $250, so it's possible that we'll see this Euro pricing carried straight over into U.S. dollars. That'd put the iPad mini at $50 more than the base models of the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD, which wouldn't be a total surprise move from Apple. Thankfully, the iPad mini is expected to debut at an event on October 23, so we've now got less than 10 days before the rumors can end and we can finally learn Apple's plans for it's long-rumored smaller tablet.
