Sony is known for using its official blog to keep us informed about its Android updates, and today the company had some more good news to share on the site. In a new blog post, Sony announced that the Xperia P's update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has begun rolling out. The push is expected to continue over the next few weeks in global markets. Sony says that all users will get a notification when the update is ready, but it also notes that some folks may have to install it using Sony's PC Companion or Bridge for Mac software rather than going the over the air route. As for the goodies that Xperia P owners can expect to find once the update is installed, here's Sony's list of some of the features:
Sony goes on to say that the Xperia U, Xperia sola and Xperia go are all next in line to receive Android 4.0 updates. Unlocked versions of the Xperia P and Xperia sola, as well as the Xperia S, were recently made available to U.S. customers thanks to Sony's online store, so it's good to see that the P is getting updated now and that the sola's update is coming soon. It's not yet clear exactly when the updates for the Xperia U, sola and go will launch, but at least owners of those handsets can rest a bit easier knowing that they're getting close.
