If you've had your eye on a 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook, you'd better pull the trigger on one soon. RIM has revealed that it will no longer produce the 16GB version of its 7-inch tablet, leaving the 32GB and 64GB as the only models that'll be offered by RIM going forward. RIM explains that there's "more value" for users in its higher capacity models, and the company affirms that it's still committed to the tablet market. The full statement from RIM:

"RIM will no longer be making the 16 GB model of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. The 16 GB PlayBook will continue to be available for distributors and retailers while quantities last. We continue to remain committed to the tablet space and the 32 GB and 64 GB models of the BlackBerry PlayBook continue to be available from our distributors and retailers around the world.

There is more value for our customers in the higher capacity models (32 GB, 64 GB), and as such we have decided to focus our efforts here."

Bad news for folks that would prefer the 16GB PlayBook, but at least folks that have yet to pick up the BlackBerry tablet will still be able to find the 32GB and 64GB models easily enough. If you're insistent on getting a 16GB PlayBook, though, that version appears to still be in stock from RIM's ShopBlackBerry.com store for now. How many of you have picked up a PlayBook?
