Mobile World Congress may not officially start until February 27th, but it seems that Samsung just couldn't wait any longer to begin taking the wraps off of some of its new devices. Tonight the company announced a new 10.1-inch version of the Galaxy Tab 2 to compliment the 7-inch model that was introduced earlier this month.
Several of the specs for the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 are similar to the 7-incher, meaning you're looking at a 1GHz dual-core processor, 3-megapixel camera, VGA front-facing shooter and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich beneath Samsung's TouchWiz UI. The 10.1-inch slate also packs a 1280x800 display, 16/32GB storage, 7,000mAh battery and optional HSPA+ connectivity. Samsung says the Galaxy Tab 2 series will begin their global rollout in the U.K. this March.
Alongside the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2, Samsung also announced the Galaxy Beam, which features a built-in 15 lumens projector that can produce an image up to 50 inches wide. Other features of the Galaxy Beam include a 4-inch 800x480 display, 1GHz dual-core CPU, 5-megapixel camera, 1.3-megapixel shooter around front, 8GB storage, HSPA connectivity and a 2,000mAh battery in a body that's 12.5mm thick. A combo of Android 2.3 Gingerbread and TouchWiz can be found running the show on the Galaxy Beam.
So what do you all make of Samsung's new devices? The specs found on the new 10.1-inch version of the Galaxy Tab 2 may not be quite as high-end as some folks may have liked, but it's worth noting that we've heard that a Galaxy Note 10.1 may be in the works, so those of you in the market for a new tablet may want to keep an eye out for that device. As for the Galaxy Beam, well, its built-in projector makes it a unique little handset, and it'd be interesting to see the quality of the images that the projector cranks out. Samsung introduces its first line-up of tablets for 2012 with the launch of the GALAXY Tab 2 series, expanding the choice of tablets to customers. The GALAXY Tab 2 series includes a 7” version and a 10.1” version. Starting from UK, the GALAXY Tab 2 series will be launched in global market from March.
The GALAXY Tab 2 series is available in 3G and WiFi versions, as well as in 7” and 10.1” variants. Light and portable, the GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) is the ideal personal on-the-go device; while the larger GALAXY Tab 2 (10.1) is well-suited for home and family use.
