One of the main problems smartphone users face today is keeping their phone charged. There's nothing worse than your phone dying on you in the middle of the day and not having any outlets around to charge your phone or spare batteries to pop in the back. That said, there are some solutions like carrying around spare battery charging packs or mounting an enormous extended battery on the back or your phone.

Sometimes, though, those options aren't the most efficient. While walking the CES show floor yesterday, I came across the Powerbag booth. A Powerbag is essentially a backpack with a built-in, removable battery pack that can charge your phones, tablets and other portable devices.

The internal battery pack that comes inside the different Powerbags is 6,000mAh (some are smaller, like the 4,000mAh pack in the tablet Powerbag) and should fully charge most of your phones at least three times. However, if you need more juice, the cartridge can be replaced and swapped as needed with additional 3,000mAh, 6,000mAh or 9,000mAh cartridges, which range from $39.99 to $59.99.

Aside from being chock-full of pockets and a huge battery, it comes with three pre-routed cables: a 30-pin connector for iPhone, micro-USB and mini-USB. The output on the micro- and mini-USB is 5VDC and 800mA. The 30-pin connector for your iDevices is 5VDC at 1A. And there is an additional built-in USB port on the inside, which gives off 5VDC at 1 to 2.1A.

Powerbags come in three different categories: backpacks, briefcases and messenger bags. Each of those have several tiers of bags, all of which range from $139.99 to $249.99.

All in all, it's a brilliant concept and it seems like Powerbag knows how to execute a fine product. I got my hands on the Deluxe Backpack by ful, but we don't normally review this sort of thing. That said, we figure Powerbag is a unique product that should appeal to a lot of users out there, so we made an exception. Be sure to keep an eye out for the review!
