Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is finally just about here, folks. If you needed any more evidence of that, you only need to take a peek at Microsoft's own "Where's my phone update?" page, which now lists the status of the Mango update for all four major U.S. carriers. Sprint is the farthest back in the process, sitting in the Testing phase, meaning that Mango is currently getting examined on the Now Network before it's released to the masses. Meanwhile, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon are in the Scheduling phase, when Microsoft is preparing the update for delivery. This part of the process generally takes 10 business days or less. Microsoft also notes that "Open market phones" and "All other operators" are in the Scheduling phase.
We may not have (official) precise rollout dates for Windows Phone 7.5 just yet, but the fact that most U.S. carriers are in the Scheduling phase of the update process means that most of you Windows Phone owners out there only have a little over a week more to wait before Mango begins sweetening your lives. Get excited!
UPDATE: Microsoft has confirmed on the official Windows Phone Blog that the Mango update process has begun. The new software will be gradually rolled out to over 98 percent of users starting today, and Microsoft expects most customers to have the Windows Phone 7.5 update "within 4 weeks." Once the update makes its way to you, users can head over to the Update Central page on Microsoft's site to find a step-by-step install process.
Keeping up with the Mango goodness, Sprint today announced that HTC Arrive owners will begin seeing the Windows Phone 7.5 update starting today. Once again, the roll out will be staggered, and Sprint expects it to take "several weeks" before all Arrive owners get a taste of Mango. Until then, Arrive users can go here to prep for the new software by reading about all of its new features and instructions on how to install the update once it hits.
