Sony Ericsson's Xperia PLAY may be destined to hit Verizon's shelves sometime this spring, but Big Red may not be the only one getting a shiny new Xperia device. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, which was made official last month at MWC, was recently spotted lounging around in the FCC and getting certified for use with UMTS II and UMTS V bands. What exactly does that mean? Those are the 850MHz and 1900MHz, which AT&T just so happens to use to broadcast its 3G signal.

When Sony Ericsson originally announced the Xperia Neo, they didn't mention any sort specific U.S. launch details, so this news should excite the SE faithful, especially since the only Sony Ericsson smartphones that AT&T currently offers are the X10 and Vivaz. Of course, this news shouldn't be taken as confirmation that AT&T will actually launch the Neo, but such a move wouldn't be a huge surprise since ATT has offered several of SE's devices in the past. The question is, will Android 2.3, a 3.7-inch 854x480 display, and a 1GHz processor help the Neo stand up to devices like the Atrix 4G and Inspire 4G?
