So far we've seen Google tap HTC and Samsung for its Nexus-branded hardware, and a new rumor suggests that the next company in line may be LG. Over at Mobile Review, a report claims that LG has been chosen to craft a Nexus device for Google, but rather than another Nexus phone, the site believes that a Nexus tablet is in the works. Like other devices in the Nexus line, the slate will allegedly be used as a base for development of other Android tablets, will run Honeycomb, and may be ready for primetime by mid-summer of early fall.
Because they don't come preloaded with bloatware of any kind and will likely always be the first to get Android OS updates, the Nexus devices are always popular with the Android faithful. I've no doubt that a Nexus tablet would be just as popular with consumers, although we should note that it's entirely possible that the device may not actually be sold to consumers, instead staying inside Google for use with internal development. What do you all think of this news? Would any of you pick up an LG-made Nexus slate?
