There have been plenty of rumors claiming poor Samsung Galaxy Tab sales in the past and, even though Sammy has shot them down before, the speculation has risen once again. It's being rumored that the Galaxy Tab is due to see some pretty deep discounts soon due to hundreds of thousands of surplus Tabs sitting on shelves and collecting dust. When asked about the rumors, Samsung spokesperson James Chung said, "We don’t comment on market speculation but such talk is absolutely groundless.”
Samsung has said in the past that, when it touts the Galaxy Tab sales numbers (which just reached 3 million), it's reporting the number of devices shipped to retailers, not the actual number of Tabs sold to consumers. Because of that, no one's quite sure how many Tabs have actually been purchased by end users. Of course, as others have pointed out, the Galaxy Tab's price reduction could be due its age or the introduction of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 rather than a surplus of unsold products. What do you all think? Is there a huge pile of unsold Galaxy Tabs sitting in a pile somewhere or are sales actually "quite smooth?"
