There are a number of Novatel MiFi hotspot devices on the market now, sucking down 3G data from AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint and pumping out glorious WiFi for your various devices. That's all well and good, but I'm sure you wouldn't mind having something a little speedier, right? If you answered "Yes," then I've got good news for you. A new Novatel MiFi, the 4082, was spotted getting FCC certification today and not only does it support good ol' EV-DO, it's also compatible with WiMAX networks. Since Sprint is the only WiMAX purveyor in town, it's probably a good bet that we'll be seeing the 4082 landing on their shelves at some point in the future.
Obviously the MiFi 4082 won't be the first WiMAX hotspot on Sprint, but the Overdrive is starting to get a little long in the tooth, so it might be nice to have a newer option. We'll have to wait until Sprint and Novatel announce pricing and availability, possibly as soon as CES next month, but from the look of it, the 4082 looks like it could be a must-have device for those of us that want a little more than the 3G MiFis can offer.
