Everyone's made a cell phone goof at one time or another, like accidentally texting the wrong contact or turning a witty remark into an insult by forgetting a crucial smiley face.
This, however, takes the cake: A 15-year-old Ohio teen was arrested for sending naked photos of herself to friends. The charges? Illegally using a minor (herself) in nude materials and for possession of criminal tools, which are considered felonies. Luckily for this girl, prosecutors were willing to strike a deal so she wouldn't have to register as a sex offender for, like, the next decade.
Would the punishment have met the crime here or would that have been overkill? An op-ed in Ohio's Newark Advocate says it's the latter. But while the Advocate debated whether this is a matter for legal prosecution or family punishment, Wired officially declared the behavior a trend yesterday, citing cases that surfaced in Alabama, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Utah.
I guess no matter whether it's in a red state or a blue state, pretty much everyone's acting kinda liberal these days.
Let this be a cautionary tale: Using your cell phone to act out your nascent exhibitionist fantasies may be cheap entertainment, but having that gaffe picked up by the wires is priceless.
