Score one for a device not made by Apple.  Adobe announced that they've licensed Flash Lite and Adobe Reader LE for implementation on Windows Mobile, thus bringing interactive Web content to millions of smartphone users even though Steve Jobs said it's not good enough for his company's iPhone.

A Flash Lite plug-in for WM devices is reportedly already under development, and with a little luck Microsoft will give its customers an easy to install Flash/Reader upgrade instead of only packaging the software with a new version of Windows Mobile (6.1?). 

In the words of the official Adobe press release: ?People want vibrant web experiences and access to entertainment and information anywhere, anytime,? said John O?Rourke, general manager, Mobile Communications Business at Microsoft Corp. ?Bringing Flash Lite and Reader LE to the Windows Mobile experience will give consumers more of their favorite websites on the go.?

For my money, Flash is the biggest thing missing from iPhone right now.  While Desktop Tower Defense might not translate so well to the little screen, there's plenty of Flash-based content I'd love to be able to access from my mobile device.  Maybe I'll have to keep a closer eye on launch plans for that Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 - it's gonna run Windows Mobile, so it stands to reason that it'll support Flash, too.
