Nokia may have just released the Symbian^3-powered N8, but the company is looking forward to its first MeeGo device, too. Speaking on the company's Q3 earnings call, newly-appointed CEO Stephen Elop announced that Nokia's first MeeGo device "will be a 2011 event." There was no word on exactly what that product will be, but many assume that it's the N9. If you were nervous about Nokia's newest OS because it's not Symbian, Elop is here to assuage your fears, saying that his first impression of Nokia and their MeeGo work "inspires both confidence and excitement."
I'm certainly excited to see what Nokia has brewing with MeeGo, and if this leaked video is any indicator, it's going to be good. Considering how competitive the mobile landscape is and will be, Nokia needs to bring their best with their first MeeGo device. After all, we're going to have webOS 2.0, more handsets with BlackBerry 6, and possibly a new version or two of Android, depending on when MeeGo does finally land. How do you all think that Nokia and their first MeeGo effort will fare in the ever-changing mobile world?
