Stories have been floating around for a while about a Dell Android handset coming to market later this year, and it looks like a couple blurry images have surfaced. The first is from BoyGenius Report.
Yikes. With that UI, it looks more like a toddler's Leapfrog device than a sophisticated smartphone. I sure hope it's a dummy, like a placeholder for the real thing to come along. Then again, the whole picture itself kind of looks like a mockup. I'm always skeptical of images, but few things raise a red flag like silhouetted ones (on white with no background).
Meanwhile, at Chinese site PDAFans (via GizLounge), another blurry image showed up claiming to deliver Android goodness from Dell. At least this one looks like an actual photograph.
Even soft and out-of-focus, there are discernible differences between the two images. Which one is real? Who knows. Maybe neither of them. There are no deets on this, not even a codename, but some industry watchers are saying that the appearance of these images seemingly corroborates the notion that Dell may have more than one handset up its sleeves -- including both 2G and 3G phones.
If the commodity computer company does somehow finally manage to squeeze out at least one model, that should pretty much crush the rumor, once and for all, that it's looking to buy Palm.
