Following last month's launch of its new Nest Audio, Google has now confirmed that it's working on a big new feature for the smart speaker.
Google is working to add integration with Chromecast to the Nest Audio. The company confirmed this news to the Wall Street Journal but didn't add any other info about the feature or when it might be released.
This feature will presumably allow you to set the Nest Audio as the audio output for your TV. Then when you cast a video to the Chromecast connected to your TV, you'll get the video on your TV's screen but the audio will be pumped out through the Nest Audio.
What we still don't know is if you'll be able to connect two Nest Audios to your Chromecast for stereo output or anything like that. Still, this is great news for anyone who owns a Nest Audio because their speaker is going to get some major new functionality soon.
