Last year we saw Samsung launch the Galaxy S10 5G and Note 10+ 5G in the U.S., and we're sure to see even more 5G phones arrive in 2020. One of them might be the Galaxy A71.
Samsung is reportedly planning to launch the Galaxy A71 5G in the U.S. in both carrier and unlocked variants. A report from SamMobile says that Samsung has begun development on two new variants of the Galaxy A71 with the model numbers SM-A716U and SM-A716U1, with the former being a carrier model and the latter the unlocked version.
It's unclear which U.S. carrier or carriers will offer the Galaxy A71 5G, nor is there any word on when the devices might launch.
The 4G version of the Galaxy A71 (shown above) was announced by Samsung earlier this month. Its spec list includes a 6.7-inch 2400x1080 Super AMOLED Plus screen with in-display fingerprint sensor and a quad rear camera setup with a 64MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide cam, 5MP depth sensor, and 5MP macro camera. There's also a 32MP selfie cam that lives inside a hole-punch at the top of the A71's screen.
Inside the Galaxy A71 is a 2.2GHz octa-core processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card slot. There are dual SIM slots, too, as well as USB-C and 3.5mm ports. A 4500mAh battery is powering the whole package.
Since it's a Galaxy A series device, this Galaxy A71 5G could be considered more of a mid-range phone by Samsung, which means it could be a bit more affordable than the company's upcoming flagship 5G phones. With 5G, a large AMOLED screen, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a more affordable price tag, the Galaxy A71 5G could be an interesting option for anyone thinking about getting a 5G phone in 2020.
