Turns out that Daydream VR isn't the only Google product that quietly got the axe this week.
Google Clips has disappeared from Google's online store. Not only has Google Clips been scrubbed from the list of product categories at the top of the store page, but when you try to navigate directly to the Clips product page, you get kicked to the store's home page.
Announced in October 2017 and launched in February 2018, Google Clips was a small, standalone camera that you could clip onto something or set up on a surface. The purpose of Clips was to capture photos and videos of special moments on its own, letting you actually participate in what was happening rather than having to be behind a camera and taking photos. Google Clips could learn familiar faces, including pets, and capture short clips of video without audio, and it would sync these photos and videos with your phone.
While it was a neat idea, Google Clips wasn't exactly cheap at $249, and it never really seemed to catch on with consumers. Now that Clips has been quietly pulled from the Google Store without any replacement, it looks like Google is moving on mini smart camera.
