Pocket Casts is one of the more popular podcast apps on the market, and today it's gaining a major new feature to help you enjoy your podcasts at home.
Pocket Casts now offers an Alexa skill. With it, you can say things to your Amazon Echo or Alexa-powered smart speaker such as "Alexa, tell Pocket Cats to resume the last podcast", "Alexa, tell Pocket Casts to play the latest episode of [Podcast Name]", or "Alexa, ask Pocket Casts for some recommendations". The Pocket Casts app also recently gained Up Next syncing that'll allow you to save your queue to your account, and you can say "Alexa, ask Pocket Casts to play my Up Next" to play that queue on your smart speaker.
To add the Pocket Casts skill to your Alexa-powered device, launch the Alexa app on your iOS or Android device, search for "Pocket Casts", and install the skill. You'll then need to link your Amazon account to your Pocket Casts account and you'll be good to go.
Pocket Casts is available on Android, iOS, and the web, and so this new Alexa skill gives you another place to enjoy your podcasts. While you could probably connect your phone to most Alexa-powered speaker over Bluetooth and play Pocket Casts that way, being able to play your podcasts using your voice with Alexa is a pretty nifty feature that'll make listening to podcasts at home easier.
