Spotify this week announced a new car-focused feature for its Android while a rumor claimed that the company is working on an entirely new device for streaming tunes in the car.
First up, Spotify has launched Car View for Android, which is a simpler Now Playing screen to make it easier for you to control your music in the car. The new Car View is automatically enabled when you connect your phone to your car's Bluetooth and your music or podcast starts playing.
Car View uses large text and buttons so that you can easily see what's playing and control playback. You can also search in this view. Spotify will let you opt out of the view until you connect to your car's Bluetooth again by tapping the three-dot menu in the upper right corner. You can also permanently disable Car View by going into the Spotify app's settings.
Spotify says that Car View is now rolling out to all Android users globally.
Meanwhile, a new report from the Financial Times says that Spotify will launch a voice-controlled in-car music player later this year. The device will reportedly cost around $100 and will sync to your car's stereo via Bluetooth. Once connected, you'll be able to use buttons for Spotify playlists and also control playback using your voice.
