Another Nokia smartphone is getting a slice of Android Pie.
The Nokia 7.1 is now being updated to Android 9 Pie, says HMD Global's Juho Sarvikas. The update is going out in phases, so it may take some time before Pie shows up on your Nokia 7.1. Sarvikas also notes that some markets with longer technical approval processes will follow soon.
The update to Android 9 Pie brings several new features. Adaptive Battery learns how you use your phone so that apps you don't use as often don't suck down a bunch of your battery's charge, and Adaptive Brightness learns how you like your screen brightness set and automatically adjusts it. Android Pie also offers an improved UI with gesture navigation, and because it's an Android One phone, the Nokia 7.1 should also get Digital Wellbeing to help you better understand how you use your phone.
HMD Global has been moving quickly to update its phones to Android Pie, pushing updates to devices like the Nokia 7.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 6.1, and Nokia 7 Plus. Many of HMD's Nokia phones are already attractive thanks to their good looks, Android One software, and aggressive pricing, and these speedy Android Pie updates make them even more appealing.
