One of the neatest features of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL is Call Screen, which lets you have the Google Assistant answer a call to see if it's a scam. Now that feature is rolling out to last year's Pixels, too.
Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL owners are now receiving Call Screen functionality. The feature is slowly making its way to users, as some Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL owners received it today while others are still waiting, so don't fret if you don't see if on your Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL quite yet.
With this feature, you'll see a new "Screen call" button when you receive an incoming call. Select it and the Google Assistant will answer the call, inform the person on the other end that you're using a screening service, and instruct them to state why they're calling. You can then select options like "Tell me more" and "Is it urgent?", and you've also got the option to hang up or pick up the call from there.
This has been an exciting week for Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL owners. Just days ago, Google announced that it was pushing its Night Sight camera feature to all Pixel owners, enabling them to take dramatically better low-light photos than they'd get without that feature. Now they're getting Call Screen, too. Some Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL owners may have been looking longingly at Google's new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL phones, but these software features will help them to get new experiences on their existing devices, and it's good to see Google treating its customers to these major new features.
Have you gotten Call Screen on your Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL yet?
