A little more than one month after Qualcomm announced its new Snapdragon Wear 3100 smartwatch processor, the first device to include that chipset has launched.
The Montblanc Summit 2 smartwatch is now available for $995. It's the first Wear OS watch to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, which aims to offer better performance and better battery life compared to the Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset. Qualcomm has said that with the improvements made to the 3100 can help to improve battery life between 4 and 12 hours compared to the 2100.
In addition to that Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, the Montblanc Summit 2 has a round 1.2-inch 390x390 AMOLED screen, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of built-in storage. There's a heart rate sensor, microphone, ambient light sensor, altimeter, accelerometer, and gyroscope included, as well as GPS and NFC for Google Pay. The 42mm case for the Summit 2 is water resistant up to 50 meters, and it accepts 22mm interchangeable straps.
Montblanc also touts that its Summit 2 includes an exclusive Timeshifter app to help travelers beat jet lag. The feature is "based on proven science", says Montblanc, and it offers info like caffeine intake advice as well as the ideal sleeping and light exposure schedule. There's also a Travel Info app to get you details like currency rates and basic words and phrases for when you're in an unfamiliar country, and the Montblanc Running Coach app offers a personalized training plan.
Rounding things out is the 340mAh battery, which Montblanc says will last for a full day of use. You can get an extra 4-5 days of battery life by activating Time Only Mode.
There are a few different versions of the Montblanc Summit available, including stainless steel and black steel cases that are available for $995. Montblanc is also offering a Titanium Sport Edition for $1,095 that comes with a rubber sport strap and is designed for lightness, as well as a Black Steel Milanese Edition that's priced at $1,230.
