Posted on: September 2nd, 2010 by William Hyder

The good: signal in my area is good for phone, but internet modem is very weak. The bad: Poor customer service, they will not handle complaints, will not return calls, and will not fix the problem. Can`t upgrade service unless you spend lots more money.Summary: Their employee turn over rate is staggering. Never talk to the same people twice. Nobody cares if you have good useable service. do not expect much.

Excellent!!!

Posted on: August 20th, 2010 by Kim Staack Read

The good: Excellent customer service. Excellent value for their plans...can 'grandfather' your plan after your contract expires. The bad: I'm sure there are some...but after 11 years, have not experienced any.Summary: Great value, least expensive carrier in Central Oregon. Terrific service, no dropped calls, other family members are contracted with Verizon, Sprint and AT&T. They experience more dropped calls than we do. US Cellular partners with Verizon towers, only time when we experience disruption is when we are travelling over the Cascades, or in DEEP canyons while rafting.

great service here

Posted on: May 28th, 2010 by Dee Pearce

The good: Great ServiceHelpful StaffThe bad: Not available if you live in GreensboroSummary: We've had US Cellular for years in southeastern NC. Our experience is 100% positive. The only bad thing I could say is sometimes the place is so crowded we have to wait, but they keep training more agents, who are friendly and helpful. They suggest ways we could save money--ask about their "Partners" program. If your employer uses USC you can get a discount on your personal account. The repair department has helped me out several times. The coverage all over NC is great. I used to work parttime in Greensboro where my co-workers had Sprint and Verizon, which had local towers. Our office was on an interior hallway where neither of their phones would ring. Despite USC having to use another company's towers, people would call me to reach them. Our travels happen in the area bounded by Ohio, New Hampshire and Florida and our service has been great all over. I can't speak for other areas, except for the ski slopes of Colorado, where reception was also great.

Trust in U.S.Cellular

Posted on: May 21st, 2010 by Sonny Ambrose

The good: Very courteous service. Prompt responses to billing or connection issues. Almost 100% continuous service ( except through the Rocky Mountains ). We drove from Chicago to Vegas; I55 to I44 to I40 to I95, and broke down 16 miles west of Santa Rosa N.M. The whole trip my friend and I had our phones on the console to see whose phone would loose signal first and it was hers. The only time I lost signal was through parts of the Rocky Mtns. Sturdy phones that can take the accidental abuse of daily lifThe bad: Sometimes it's hard to find a store outside of the large metro areas. Website a little confusing.Summary: I was originally with Primeco starting in 1995 and did not switch when US Cellular took over due to the fact that my contract would be grandfathered in. I have been more than happy with their service and prices. I have no incoming charges, nights for me stayed the same from Primeco free after 7pm, 1000 prime min. free. Free incoming texts. I do not see a need for those "smart" phones since I have a nav system and a 10 disc sirus system in my vehicles, a PS3 at home, laptop and desktop computers at home and work just like everyone else. if you have to have a smart phone you are either a teenager or you are in dire need of a secretary.

Worst Service and Poor quality phones

Posted on: May 20th, 2010 by America Sampson

The good: NoneThe bad: Most calls and texts not received, Poor customer serviceSummary: I have been with U.S. Cellular for five years and it was a cycle that you can't get out of. You sign up and get a phone that breaks or stops working properly after about a year, therefore you have to sign another 2 year contract to get another phone. The last "new" phone I got it started to not work properly after 6 mos. I tried to take it in several times to have it repaired, but the tech was never in the office. I called several times to corporate and explained the situation and they basically did nothing to assist. When I finally had enough I called and asked how much my cancellation fee would be and that's when they actually wanted to help. I was informed I could pay $50 to get a new phone plus any difference the new customer would pay. Why would I pay the same as my cancellation fee when I could go somewhere else and get better service that turned out to be cheaper than U.S. Cellular and I get more features. I cancelled my service on the 10th and it's now the 20th I have tried to call and get the amount of my final bill so there aren't any surprises. I was told the first time they would close out the bill on the 17th and the man I spoke with was extremely rude and said that he wouldn't be able to give me any more information since I have cancelled my service. When I called back today I got the same response that they couldn't tell me how much my final bill was and couldn't really discuss anything since my service was cancelled. Why am I asked every time I call to update my information--nothings changed in 5 days! Really? All in all U.S. Cellular treats you like crap throughout your whole service and it's ten times worse when you cancel. I have gone with Sprint and my monthly bill is cheaper than I ever had with U.S. Cellular and I get unlimited calls inbound and out and unlimited txt and unlimited data. I should've switched a long time ago.

US Cellular Insider in Maine but not a Mainer! ..listen up.

Posted on: May 19th, 2010 by S H

The good: In General for this area - Best coverage. Friendly customer service that wants to help you. Now has the biggest 3G network in Northern New England. Free incoming calls. 30 day guarantee. Free battery swaps. Free overage protection (alerts to let yo know when you go over) Androids are coming July 2nd (The HTC Desire looks amazing, feels like iphone). HAS NATION WIDE PLANS COMPARABLE TO AT&T and better than VORIZEN. The bad: Doesn't get the newest phones fast enough. Agent locations do not always provide the same customer service that retail/corporate locations do (sorry, having worked as both I can now say that.) 3G doesn't work or work as well outside of regional areas as of now. Summary: If you live in the regional or "wide" area that US Cellular covers you are in great shape with this company. After a year and a half of selling their product I can tell you that they are not full of $H%# when they say "we believe in something better". That being said, there are always going to be people that aren't as helpful as others. So call back and speak to another representative or try going to a retail/corporate store. The company as a whole does try to the right thing for their customers, I assure you.

Before You Sign a Contract With US Cellular Read This

Posted on: May 10th, 2010 by Dorothy Bauer

The good: Free incoming minutesThe bad: Towers - not enough of them in order to service their customers.Summary: Make sure you both receive and make LOTS of phone calls to and from your home within your 2 week trial period. This will help you find out if the service from your home works well. I did not understand much about this, being a newbie. In 7 months, I had so many calls that I never received, it was ridiculous. This was intermittent. I would receive only the voice mail that the person had to leave because my phone wouldn't ring in to my house. I happen to live right smack in between two US Cellular towers and get horrible service. I had a software update and about everything else they had to get the darn thing to work for me. Sometimes I can't call out either, even tho the phone is fully charged. Also, the Samsung Twostep phone that I have must be charged every single day, even if I don't use it for days on end. I even had a new battery replacement. No difference. I am now stuck with a final bill of $128 for cancelling the contract early because of totally crappy service and cellphone. I've bought a Straight Talk phone from Walmart for $30 a month, no contract, and it works each and every time and day without fail since I bought it 2 weeks ago. It works off of Verizon towers. Hope this helps someone out there. Wish I had known this ahead of time.

Why??

Posted on: February 25th, 2010 by Chad Legler

The good: Good cellular coverageThe bad: Out dated phones!!! Out dated phones!!! Out dated phones!!! Out dated phones!!! Summary: Why do they take 6 - 10 months to release a then out dated phone? Testing? Why can so many other wireless companies test phones quicker. INVEST MORE IN GETTING NEW PHONE TECHNOLOGY OUT THE DOOR QUICKER, AND YOU WILL HAVE MORE CUSTOMERS THAN YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH. And yes, your data speeds better be up to the challenge too. Learn from AT&T's mistakes. People want good service, but they also want value for their monthly bills and new technology in hand does help!!! This delay needs to be greatly reduced. Why do you think they are loosing customers? Keep this up and you will be forced to sell to a larger wireless provider, and the price tag won't make investors happy. If you can't stay current within a couple of months of the latest phone technology, get out of the game!!! You are wasting my and so many others time. I am currently looking to jump ship, just like so many others. Also, customer service has been good and bad. Mostly bad from my own experience, but it has a lot to do with the lack of knowledge by the representative. Well, I guess we know their not spending the extra money on training either!!! Nice!!Reply | Spam
