Phone was Deactivated for no Reason

Posted on: April 4th, 2013 by Anonymous

I have been a loyal Tracfone customer for more than three years. I was fairly content with my phone and service, even though the phone was a relic and the service was mediocre - the price was right given my needs. I was never negligent with my payments. Out of the blue, my phone was deactivated, even though I had ample airtime and minutes on the phone. I spoke with numerous customer service representatives and each gave a different answer for why the phone was deactivated; they claimed I had been negligent with payments, then said that there was something wrong with the phone. They claimed that the only way to fix the problem was to buy a new phone and plan (seemed like a scam to make more $ or drop low-revenue customers). They sent me no email notifications that this would happen, and offered no refund for the airtime and minutes that I had already paid for. To add insult to injury, this happened days after my mother died when I had to make arrangements for her funeral. Despite the fact that I was initially impressed with the service quality and overall value, I can't fathom giving Tracfone a rating better than 0 across the board. Their customer care is non-existent - absolutely terrible to say the least.

GPLG430GB Easy to Use - LOUSY OPTIONS

Posted on: April 4th, 2013 by Christopher Plumley

I like this phone, small, simple and cheap to use. However, once you take pics or video the only option for downloading is Bluetooth and that is limited too. Talked to Carlos and Irene in New Delhi and they both did not understand or speak American English .. Long Live the King ... Guess I'll bit the bullet and find another phone ... After all this one is 5 months old and way out of date.

a rip-off

Posted on: March 22nd, 2013 by Kathleen Reynolds

First I couldn't get it activated. They promised I could keep my old number, but didn't. I was using the old number and it wouldn't work. Many long waits for customer service. Of course they want you to call in on your tracfone, so this time I'm told the wait is 20 minutes. (still waiting).. Somehow the minutes disappear, they must charge you when you're punching in the number. Then I was getting collection agency calls for the deadbeat who apparently had my number. I got charged for all their calls and when I picked up the voicemail. Now, 3 months later, the phone doesn't hold a charge. W/o using it, the charge lasts less than a day. I have talked maybe 2 hours total but have been billed for over 6 hours. I'm waiting to see how long it will take to get the problem of not holding a charge. I also asked them for a printout of my calls; they had an impossible list of requirements. This is the most frustrating (ripoff) company I've ever dealt with.

what a nightmare!!

Posted on: March 3rd, 2013 by Bonnie Graesser

i bought a new lg800 from tracfone for an upgrade. i purchased it on 2/7/13. the phone did not work in the house so tracfone sent me a replacement. it was reconditioned not a new one which is what i paid for. the second one did not work in the house the customer service rep told me to stand new a window???? i was so disgusted that i asked them to transfer my days and minutes back to my old phone which i purcjased years ago. they said i needed a new sim card so i had to wait til they mailed it to me. when i got the card i called to activate. i spent 72 minutes on the phone. now they say i have to wait for a replacement phone for my old phone. customer service is NOT helpful all they want to do is sent you another phone. i can't tell you how much time i wasted on the phone ( average tim is 50 min) don't buy a tracfone because they don't care to help you!!

Nothing but a nightmare to deal with.

Posted on: February 19th, 2013 by Susan Johnson

Bought a tracfone in July/12. It does not work in my immediate area in South Florida (Boynton Beach). If I go up the road 1 mile I have service. I was told for months there was a tower down. In Jan/13, I went after them again, being escalated to the managers department, (which is another joke) demanding a phone that would work In Boynton. After 3 pieces of garbage sent to me, and returned, they now had the ordasity to zap my sim card, so my phone doesn't work anywhere. So now after 6 weeks of 4 or 5, 1.25 hour phone calls they are suppose to be sending me the correct model to operate in this area, along with a new sim card for the old phone, because I don't actually believe a new phone is coming. Think very hard before buying one of these pieces of junk.

The worst customer service

Posted on: February 18th, 2013 by Tara Lypinski

Bought a Tracfone, since I am not using a cell phone very much and was sick of paying $ 50 every month . Bought it at our local Radio Shack who activates the phones ahead of time , since a third of the phones will not activate ( had that problem with a previous Tracfone ). Bought a 1 year card and did not get 200 bonus minutes . I sent them 2 emails , they never answered them . When I finally called , they said it was too late to add the minutes after having me on hold for 20 minutes . Customer service outside the US - bad English skills and bad phone connection . Definitely not out to please their customers . They can only get away with it , since they don't have any competition in the prepaid cell phone service in the US .

Unbelievably bad customer service

Posted on: January 31st, 2013 by Orville Johnston

Tracfone is far and away the worst company I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is virtually non-existent. They use up all the airtime you purchase by keeping you on hold, being cut off and having to call back. I have yet to speak to anyone that I could understand even though I requested service in English. How they are allowed to operate in this fashion and remain in business is mind boggling. PEOPLE - DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND NEVER PURCHASE A TRACFONE.

My new phone sucks

Posted on: January 17th, 2013 by Anonymous

I got my tracfone through the mail. Opened the box, put the battery cover on and it won't stay on. Either the cover is the wrong one or it's made wrong. I have tried putting it on several times and it keeps falling off. I think the plastic prongs are too short. What am I supposed to do with a phone that the cover won't stay on? The customer service department people (whom I can't understand) don't know what I should do.

Do not waste your time with TracFone

Posted on: January 6th, 2013 by Jonesies Jones

Our family recommends you go with some other service. TracFone has bad area coverage and the worst customer service next to T-Mobile. They want way too much personal information when you call for help,. that can take an average of 90 minutes! And you can't understand a word these foreigners are saying. You push one for English then you should expect to speak to someone who can fluently speak audible English. We just purchased a TracFone minute card and used a dime to scratch of the protective silver coating and it also removed the pin code numbers so we can't add your minutes. We have our receipt with authorization code etc...from the store the card was purchased and TracFone refuses to help without you first answering and providing personal information. The phone isn't the problem it is the crappy faulty/defective minute?s card. Then they said we could Fax them with all our personal information before they will tell us how to fix the card. All they need is the minute?s card number and the purchase authorization number from our receipt and they could have easily given us the pin code. Earlier this year we misplaced the phone and ran out of minutes and the phone SIM card expired, instead of just reactivating it, you have to give them all your personal information for them to send you a new SIM card, then you have to call them and spend another 128 minutes on the phone entering codes to reactivate your phone. Plus we lsot the 580 minutes we had saved up. They had record of the minutes and refused to reinstate them. It is not worth all the trouble and they are selling our private information they collect from us. We rate them -100!
