The tracfone for seniors

Posted on: January 31st, 2012 by Anonymous

My parents and I decided to get SVC phones for both my grandparents and it was one of the best decisions we've ever made. For only 7 dollars a month, my grandparents have great phones that have large keypads so they can see the numbers properly and that are hearing-aid compatible so that they can hear their phone calls properly as well.

If this isn't the worst thing ever, I don't know what is

Posted on: January 26th, 2012 by Anonymous

First off, thanks phonedog for erasing my entire review during the sign in process. Now on to the Tracfone. NOTHING but trouble from this company - poor reception (you have to enter your pin 3 or 4 times before the crackly phone lines let it through). Reception isn't the worst, however. The worst is how they change your phone number every time your phone goes 'inactive'. This can happen by your fault or theirs, but once the number's gone, it's gone. Now you have the drug dealer's old phone number, or maybe the lady that has a million unpaid bills who gets bill collectors calling and leaving messages daily. Just sign up for a plan to keep that 'inactive' thing from happening? Tried it! Didn't work! Their computer didn't register it properly (although the cash disappeared out of my bank account) so it became 'inactive' again and the number changed, again. Fine, last try, paid up to next month, but wait! Phone is INACTIVE on the 26th, 5 days before the renew date. Number is changed too. I have over 700 minutes on this phone, but that's no matter, I'm through with this hassle. Cheap is good, but crap is crap.

Never dropped a call

Posted on: October 24th, 2010 by John James Hill

The good: Coverage is great all over. Cheaper than contract. No contract, and therefore no ^$(* ETF. Easy access to recharge. The bad: Service center's to be avoided. Slow to adopt old phone number.Summary: I've been with tracfone since I paid an ETF to just get rid of the contract I was in bout 5 years ago. At the time there wasn't a lot of prepaid competition about like there is now. And still tracfone offers me by far the only option I want for my kids. Which is a small amount of minutes at a time. When they invariably run out of minutes, they invariably have to do more work around the house and earn their minutes.Apart from that, I fly round the country quite a bit, selling farming equipment to some very rural areas, and I've never had a problem with dropping calls, or have any amount of buzzing in the background.I have however had one irking waiting problem when I tried to carry an old number to a new phone. That particular number was quite important to me, but if it's not an important number I'll happily settle for a new number, just to avoid tracfone's service aptitude. Having said that, it needs mentioning that the staff, although entirely unhelpful, were always friendly.

Tracfone Stinks

Posted on: October 7th, 2010 by Michelle Kinzinger

The good: none over any other prepaidThe bad: Poor customer service, Doesn't back up the product, poor connection, ridiculous hold timesSummary: I would not ever use Tracfone again. We had tracfone for 4 years my husband used this as his business phone. While trying to port the # to a new phone they lost the # and reassigned to someone else. We lost alot of business. they did not offer any type of compensation for all the money and clients we lost due to this. They gave me a new # which they disconnected after a week because their system screwed up. Again we lost business and they gave me 100 minutes big deal. I am not impressed. The customer service stinks they lie to you and put you on hold for hours. I was on hold for 14 hours over 6 days with who knows how many different people that you can barely hear through their poor connection. I recomend you stay as far away as possible from this company unless you want to waste money and time.

Great Prepaid Service!

Posted on: September 28th, 2010 by Jenny Leigh

The good: Brand name phones for low pricesThe bad: None :)Summary: The Tracfone service has been nothing but perfect to me. Offering brand name phones, low prices, super savings each month, nationwide coverage, it's the whole package deal. Switching to this prepaid service was one of the smartest decisions I have made and definitely reccommend it to all!

Avoid TRACFONE like the plague!!!

Posted on: September 26th, 2010 by Joseph Corcoran

The good: coverage is ok at bestThe bad: Customer service is the worst i have ever had to deal with! non-english speaking know-it-alls. they are the worst excuse for help i've ever encountered. Use Cricket instead.Summary: After trying to find my wife's cust ID # online, their website is terrible by the way, I was forced to call the 800#. what a mistake. The operators don't speak english very well, don't understand what you are trying to say, and have no manners. I would use ANY prepaid wireless service before I used tracfone again

Five hours later . . .

Posted on: September 25th, 2010 by Ann Harris

The good: There is not ONE.The bad: Too many to mention all of them.Summary: Why do I feel like I'm dealing with a Third World Country? OH . . . because I AM! Right. For the last year, every time I added minutes to my phone, my credit card was charged, but the minutes were not added. I had to call Tracfone, was on the phone for at least an hour, and had to add 60+ code numbers into the phone. I tried to tell them the phone was defective. Finally, last week, they admitted there was something wrong with the phone (2-1/2 more hours that day). They assured me they would transfer my phone number to the new phone. After 1-1/2 hours, my minutes were transferred (though one minute short), but my phone number was different. I accepted the new phone number to avoid having to deal with them anymore. Ah, but fate interjected! This afternoon, my expiration date suddenly changed to TODAY! Not 1/15/11 like it was earlier. Wow. Finally (something I should have done months ago), I called the ?corporate? headquarters (where English clearly isn?t their first language), but my problem was finally resolved (I hate to even say that). They were trying to be kind and extended my service to 4/5/11. I just hope I use up my minutes way before then so I can move on to AT&T!

Tracfone - charges you for 611 calls

Posted on: September 7th, 2010 by Jim Mooney

The good: noneThe bad: Tracfone is rotten. I got the phone. The site is messed up. When I dialed 0 it printed 2580. I called 611 to correct it and halfway into the call they tell me I'm being CHARGED for the repair call. This isn't supposed to happen. 611 repair calls are supposed to be free. I don't have another phone to call from right now. I got the tracfone because my regular phone quit. Sheesh. They stink. Robbers. Person could barely speak anyway. Problem still not fixed.Summary: Tracfone charges for 611 repair calls, unlike most other carriers. Their website doesn't work right and the customer service people can't speak English.
