While you might pay less for the device and slightly less for service you have to ask yourself what am I actually getting for my hard earned money? Not only does Sprint lack service where other carriers have it, there are always outages, dropped calls and data issues. Since it's Sprint your dealing with here, you'll get zero and I mean zero customer service the entire length of the contract. Let me tell you about my experience with Sprint to help you make a positive cellular decision thus you don't waste your hard earned money. I started my nightmare seeing some really good deals in a newspaper. They were a bit better than other carriers it seemed so I went into the Sprint store in my area and met with a sales manager. This MANAGER knew very little about the products he was selling. (He would however, be able to tell you all about the commission he would be getting.) I overlooked this because of the good prices I saw in the paper. Then I got fooled some more seeing that these lower priced phones where the same devices that other carriers had. I foolishly smiled at the low phone price and next got suckered into what I thought was a low cost for a plan. Although the price per month was good, what the sales manager was not honest about was the coverage. Without good coverage these monthly prices are not that great. Since he wanted to make a sale, he told me how great the service is and all the things I wanted to hear for him to ensure a complete sale. Once I got home I began the hard part. What is the hard part you might ask? Well the hard part is paying for something you'll never get; good reception, working data, and quality costumer service. If you're going to pay more than fifty dollars a month for a cellular phone, then you should expect good coverage or you'd have Strait Talk or Virgin Mobile. I average two bars or less on my Galaxy Epic and had three bars in the Sprint store. You'll come to realize that your unlimited data is not unlimited because it hardly works or there are always outages. Using WiFi makes the data work but then what is the point of a unlimited data plan? It is, as good as having to pay for a cable modem because you'll be dishing out another forty dollars a month thus making the Sprint service more expensive by a long shot. Other carriers have data caps but you get something that works. At least you have data when you need it. Now try calling customer service and see how that goes. After you get a beat around the bush for a few hours on the phone, and I mean hours not minutes, they flat out tell you that no one is going to help you. I've had to work hard on the phone to make things right but I've never been humiliated and spit on quite like I have with Sprint. I called the Sprint costumer service while I was at the Sprint store, with my Galaxy Epic and the Sprint representative said the phone was breaking up and called the Sprint stores phone. How is that for service? I was in a Sprint store and I could not make a decent call!!! Jason the Sprint manager in the Branson, Missouri Sprint store said it was my fault the phone works just fine and they just don't have enough towers. Hum, then what are they doing selling service here!!! Which leads us to the total protection insurance Sprint sells; that total protection insurance they claim to sell you is actually false advertising. It's not total protection like they say it is. Total protection means that a certified specialist looks at your phone and guarantees you always have a phone that works as agreed on the signed contract and then covers you against loss and theft. My phone never worked except for the first month. Sprint then always has some no name off the street look at my defective device, hook it up to a diagnostics, and then tell me it works, yet the supposed tech representative has no mobile tech knowledge. Software diagnostics does not cut it. You need someone that has had hands on training; in other words had the proper degree. Since the Sprint technician will not have gone to school to get the proper training, they'll have no clue what they are doing. The tech will just blame it on the lack of coverage in the area and leave you hanging. To top it off, that total coverage costs you almost eight dollars a month more on your bill. Is this really how you want to spend your hard earned money? I understand that companies like Verizon and AT&T charge a little bit more money for service and have data caps but lets be honest here, you'll have bars on your phone when you need to make a call and you'll always have internet available when you need it. I've had my sprint phone for six months, in that time I hardly ever have bars on my device. My internet data has barely works and when it does, I get less than 3G unless I'm in a big city like St. Louis. If your going to spend sixty or more dollars a month for cellular service at least get a service provider and device that works. Sprint is simply just not a winner.
