Google was planning to launch the first Android 11 beta next week, but the company revealed today that it's changing its plans.
It was announced tonight that the Android 11 Beta Launch Show that was scheduled for June 3 has been postponed. Google said that it's excited to share more about Android 11 but that "now is not the time to celebrate," likely referring to the protests currently happening across the country.
There's been no new date set for the Android 11 beta release, but Google says that it'll be back with more info soon.
With Google I/O 2020 canceled this year due to the coronavirus, this Android 11 Beta Launch Show was going to be the replacement for the Android announcements that Google normally shares at I/O. Google said that it was planning to reveal new features of Android 11 and share 12 talks related to Android development.
We are excited to tell you more about Android 11, but now is not the time to celebrate. We are postponing the June 3rd event and beta release. We'll be back with more on Android 11, soon.
