One of the highlight new features of the Galaxy Note 7 is its iris scanner, which you can use to unlock the phone, access a Secure Folder, and more. Now you can use it to pay for things, too.
Samsung Pay has been updated with support for the Galaxy Note 7’s iris scanner. With it, you can authenticate purchases using the iris scanner instead of the fingerprint reader or a PIN.
The iris scanner is a major addition to the Galaxy Note 7, and we could end up seeing on future Samsung phones. That’s why it’s nice to see Samsung Pay gaining support for iris authentication. Now Galaxy Note 7 owners can use their eyes to authenticate Samsung Pay payments if they want, and any future Samsung phones that have iris scanners will have the same feature out of the box.
Also part of today’s Samsung Pay update is a cloud restore feature that’ll restore your membership cards, gift cards, and Samsung Reward cards when you sign in to Samsung Pay. Credit/debit cards aren’t included in the sync because those aren’t necessarily things that you’d want stored in the cloud and ready to be synced.
Samsung also notes that Samsung Pay users now have access to buying more gift cards and adding more membership cards.
