As expected, HTC today took the wraps off of two new Desire phones: Desire 10 Lifestyle and Desire 10 Pro. And while they may look similar, they’ve got some differences to be aware of.
The Desire 10 Lifestyle is running Android 6.0 on a 5.5-inch 1280x820 display. Some of the features that HTC is highlighting are the Lifestyle’s 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, as well as its 24-bit Hi-Res audio. The Desire 10 Lifestyle also has a metallic contour to give it a more premium look and feel.
Other specs of the Desire 10 Lifestyle include 2/3GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, and a 2700mAh battery.
Then there’s the Desire 10 Pro which, as its name suggests, is a bit more high-end. It’s running Android 6.0 on a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display, boasts 20-megapixel rear and 13-megapixel front cameras, and has an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor inside of its body.
The Desire 10 Pro’s RAM and storage have been upgraded over the Lifestyle, too, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage included. If that 64GB isn’t enough, you can add more with a microSD card. To help power this beefier package, the Desire 10 Pro has been equipped with a 3000mAh battery.
Design-wise, the Desire 10 Pro looks fairly similar to the Desire 10 Lifestyle, complete with the metal contours for a premium look and feel. One difference that you’ll note about the back of the two phones, though, is that the Desire 10 Pro has a fingerprint reader that’s missing from the Lifestyle.
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle will begin rolling out today in the UK and other markets at a price of £249 ($325 USD), while the Desire 10 Pro will launch in October for an undisclosed price. Both models will be sold in Stone Black, Polar White, Royal Blue, and Valentine Lux (pale blue) color options.
HTC’s Desire 10 phones have an attractive design, and the gold metal lines on the backs of the two devices are a nice touch. I’m also digging the Valentine Lux and Royal Blue color options, but I’m also a sucker for uncommon phone colors.
Looking at the two phones individually, the Desire 10 Lifestyle looks like a respectable offering with a nice design, affordable price, and mid-range specs. Meanwhile, the Desire 10 Pro isn’t quite on the same level as Android flagships, but its spec list is high-end. It’ll be interesting to see how HTC prices the Desire 10 Pro, because it could be a great affordable alternative to pricier Android flagships.
