UPDATE: Verizon has reached out to say that its page went live prematurely. Verizon prepaid customers will get VoLTE calling support in early fall. When the official launch happens, we'll let you know.
Verizon postpaid customers have been enjoying Voice over LTE, which Verizon calls HD Voice, for some time now. Now the carrier’s prepaid customers can use it, too.
A page on Verizon’s website shows that the big red carrier is now offering HD Voice to prepaid customers. If you have an HD Voice-capable phone, you can add HD Voice to your account for free.
In order to conduct an HD Voice call, both phones need to have HD Voice enabled and be connected to Verizon’s 4G LTE network.
There are several benefits to HD Voice, including clearer calls, the ability to browse the internet using LTE while on the phone, six-way conference calls, and more. Because it offers all of these features, it’s nice to see that Verizon is finally letting its prepaid customers use HD Voice.
