After announcing earlier this month that it would be adding support for U.S. Cellular, Google’s Project Fi now appears to be gaining that feature.
An update to the Project Fi app that's now rolling out adds U.S. Cellular support. “Install this update to ensure that your device is ready to connect to our newest partner’s network,” Google’s changelog reads. The update also adds unspecified bug fixes and performance improvements.
Previously, Project Fi used Sprint and T-Mobile’s networks for cellular coverage, so U.S. Cellular is the third network to be used by Fi. U.S. Cellular is the fifth largest carrier in the U.S., and its addition should increase the speed and coverage of Project Fi for a lot of users, especially because U.S. Cellular often touts its more rural coverage.
Do you use Project Fi? If so, how has the service been treating you?
